Over the past twelve months, the conflict has inflicted untold suffering on the Ukrainian people, with thousands of lives claimed, millions displaced and crucial civilian infrastructure decimated. One woman, who before the war, worked in the jewelry business, but when Russia launched its invasion of her home, she joined the defense, and eventually became part of the Safari special forces regiment. EVGENIA EMERALD, 32, is now known as her country's 'Joan of Arc'. Evgeniya has become somewhat of an icon in Ukraine, fighting on the front lines as a sniper, the only woman in her unit.
