Its forces are bombing city centers and closing in on the capital, Kyiv, prompting a mass exodus of refugees. A massive, 40-mile convoy of Russian tanks and vehicles appeared to bog down on its push toward the capital of Kyiv while residential areas of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, were being pounded by Russian shells. Russia has committed about 80% of the combat force President Vladimir Putin deployed to invade Ukraine. Ukrainian resistance is continuing, and it has helped stymie the advance. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pleaded, by videoconference before MEPs, for the entry ''without delay'' of his country into the European Union. Blood stains in the snow where two 'saboteurs' who were trying to cross a roadblock were injured and captured enroute to Kiev, just northeast of the capital. Ukrainian troops fought back and injured the two attackers, according to a Ukrainian soldier present on the scene. The two men were handed over to Ukrainian intelligence services.
