The Prix d'Amerique at Vincennes hippodrome near Paris, France is widely considered the most prestigious event of the European harness racing year. Started in 1920 the race has a top prize of 2 million euro's for the fastest 'trotter.' The world-famous training centre at at the nearby Chateau Grosbois is home to more than 1500 horses and with 40 km of bridle path, 23 km are in the forest making it the largest Harness training center in the the world. Annually up to 6 thousand horses practice on 3 special racetracks, and with only a few lucky 'trotters' selected to go in search of gold at premier international events each year, the competition is fierce.
