Fifty years ago Britain's fishing industry employed over 50,000 fishermen, today there are around 12,000. Reports suggest that fishing stocks could be virtually wiped out by 2048. Environmental experts are warning up to a third of UK fishing waters may have to be closed to protect threatened species.
Thousands of jobs will not only be lost but entire communities of towns and villages are being changed forever.
